Coach's Corner: Player Spotlight

DAVE FARRELL

Boston, MA - The Team Dynamo Organization spells "Class" with a capital "C," so it comes as no surprise that Dave Farrell wears that very letter on his jersey. However, the omnipotent "C" is not the only feather in Dave's cap, as he also founded Team Dynamo and acts as player coach.

Dave's humble beginnings can be traced back to a little-known and quaint town called Burrillville, which is tucked neatly in the northwest corner of Rhode Island. Dave spent his younger-years as your typical small town ruffian, but it wasn't long before his eyes grew bigger than his hometown.

Even at a young age, Dave knew the meaning of class
Dave matriculated to the prestigious Williams College in 1992 as a highly touted athlete. Sure enough, he failed to disappoint and was described as, "an impact player who made something happen every time he stepped on the ice," by his coach.

Although North Adams State may or may not have been a girls JV high school
team, Dave found a way to lead his team

Like many a fine wine, Dave only grew better with age. After a brief stint in the Big Apple, Dave returned to his roots, and settled down. It was around this time that Dave conceived the great Team Dynamo, and with handful of local donations and the change in his pocket, he purchased team jerseys. "Of course, it wasn't easy as a start up general manager," Dave reminisces. "But, I found the right group of guys to start the train rolling, and I guess, I haven't looked back."

A constant staple in the line up night in and night out, and oft referred to as the Cal Ripken Jr. of the RIMSEHL, Farrell focuses mostly on team chemistry. "We've tried a number of different combinations over the years, whether it be local college guys or plug ins from my vast hockey network, but it's always been my goal to keep the corps in tact." Many believe it's Farrell's aforementioned approach that keep The Blue at the top of the standings year in and year out.

When he's not in season or recruiting in the off season, one might find Farrell on the golf course or rocking out at the local tavern with his band, Joe Kickass. Most importantly though, up when the team is down, and calming when the gang is hyper, coach, captain, player, and general manager Farrell knows how to manage his team and manage it well. And, if greater New England is lucky, he'll plan to sustain the level of success that fans have grown so accustomed to for another decade to come.
