Team Dynamo Fails to Make Championship Rounds

West Warwick, RI - In an energetic and action packed weekend of the Third Annual Narragansett Classic, Team Dynamo struggled to shed off some rust, going 1-1-1 in the three game round robin. The results led some to believe that Team Dynamo has fallen victim to the all-too-typical "cup hangover" of a season past. However, not all read the scorecard accordingly.

"This was a pretty good tune-up. We saw some of the upcoming competition, scouted their forecheck, power play etc." "We'll be ready" was the overall message from veteran blue liner Erik Noack.

Team liaison Joey Loiselle was the driving force behind bringing the Blue together for the spectacle and did an excellent job at filling the gaps in the line up. A majority of the veteran presence was missing for Team Dynamo, as several key members opted to garner the extra weeks of rest after back to back summer and winter championships.

Game 1: After being delayed by over an hour, the puck dropped late Friday evening in front of a surprisingly diminished crowd. Team Dynamo sported a shortened bench in the pre-season opener, and the larger than normal sheet of West Warwick took its toll as the Blue fell by a score of 6-4. It was a valiant effort put forth, and most notably, young prospect Derek Colucci tallied a hat trick, showing both speed and a deftly soft touch on the puck. Subsequently, he was sent down to Team Dynamo's Triple A club, the Team Dynamo Junior Blues, after the tournament.

Game 2: Refreshed and somewhat well rested, Team Dynamo received reinforcements on Saturday morning and "Blue" past the competition in Game 2 of the Narragansett Classic. Dynamo jumped out to an early 5 - 0 lead and never looked back. With the prospective tie breaker going to either goals for or goals against (it was very unclear in the tournament by-laws), Dynamo reached the century mark, ending the game with an even 10 goals to the opponents' 4.

Game 3: In what spectators called the "greatest game ever played [at the Narragansett Cup]", Team Dynamo faced off on Saturday afternoon, just hours after shellacking their previous opponent, against an unfamiliar team comprising of washed up United Hockey League (now defunct) fighters and over-eager young hopefuls. Team Dynamo clung to a 3-1 lead through the majority of the game before squandering the lead late in the third. A 3 - 3 tie meant only one thing in today's game: a shootout. As an aside, the last shootout that Team Dynamo played to was the in the semi finals of the 2012 RIMSEHL against The Bulldogs, where in quite dramatic fashion, Joey Loiselle put the icing on the cake, scoring in the 14th round to carry the Blues to the Finals, which they eventually won against The Woonsocket Rockets. It wasn't meant to be, however, this time around as the momentum carried into the  penalty shot round by the young'uns was too much to overcome and Team Dynamo fell, scoring on 1 of 3 tries where the opponents were able to convert on all 3.
