Team Dynamo Gains First Win; Curley Shines
Woonsocket, RI - Defending RIMSEHL Champion Team Dynamo has finally earned its first win approaching mid season of the 2013 campaign. While fans and players alike have been disappointed thus far, Team Dynamo pulled together a decisive and comprehensive win against the rookie squad Five Guys on Thursday evening.Late scratches and last minute call ins proved crucial for Team Dynamo as they jumped out to an early first period lead, only to pull away in the middle period without looking back. In Team Dynamo's first win in the somewhat young season, weathered defenseman John Curley turned in a solid scorecard, recording his first goal of season and completing a more than impressive +5 rating. Not to be overshadowed by returning stud defenseman Erik Noack, Curley stepped up his game and scored a decisive ninth goal on a beautiful rebound put-away, only to celebrate in dramatic fashion, fanning the ice and raising his glove hand to the heavens.
Curley's reemergence with Team Dynamo could prove divisive
Goaltender Mark Senerchia displayed his lowest goal total of the season at 6 as Team Dynamo dominated a young but skilled squad by a total of 11 - 6. Also starring was ever-consistent Joey Loiselle, who has proven night in and night out that he can compete at the highest of levels. Shane and Dave Farrell were also strong, as is typical, in the evermore crucial victory. The big W takes the last place Team Dynamo to, well, tied for last place.
With only the top four squads making the playoffs, Team Dyanmo has made a small yet powerful stride towards redemption. Young buck and U-Mass Boston star Derek Colucci was also consistent throughout the game.
Meanwhile, the Woonsocket Wombats were dethroned by The Bulldogs, which catapulted them into first place. Team Dynamo faces off against said Bulldogs, who earlier in the season eeked out a win against the Blues by the slim margin of 7 - 1. The puck drops at 7:10 PM sharp on Thursday, August 1st and could possibly be a pre post season preview, let alone a season defining match up.
Notable Team Dynamo happenings include Dan Maturi's late scratch regarding an undisclosed but serious mid-body injury. Furthermore, utility man John Halverson was late to a team meal on Thursday and was subsequently benched for the first period. There is no further comment on his Team Dynamo status. The official line up for the blockbuster match up this Thursday has yet to be released but is surely much anticipated as the struggling Dynamo search for consistency in 2013.
