Woonsocket, RI - Team Dynamo, in perennial fashion, defeated the Squids in one of the RIMSEHL semi- final contests last night, 4 - 3.
The Squids took an early lead mid way through the first period, however it was Craig Houle who answered quickly, with a nice snapshot from the slot on nifty pass from centerman Matt Czerkowicz. The Squids followed with a seeing eye shot from the point, with the first period ending in the Squids favor, 2 - 1.
Intensity and high pace were in abundance, and it wasn't long before Cody Kasavant leveled the game at two by waiting out Squids goaltender Brian Larence and finishing a blisterer up top. And so, the two teams headed into the third all even, with their respective seasons on the line.
James Guay took the opportunity to give the Boys in Blue the edge by finding the five hole on a line rush, and Derek Colucci also found the back of the net on a nice tip. The Squids answered with one of their own but ultimately the Dynamo held the line and fought off a minute thirty of 5 v 6 play, successfully placing them in their 9th straight RIMSEHL final.
The other semi-final saw the Bulldogs take over Goon Squad and earn their trip to the final.
On Thursday, September 25th, the 2022 Championship will take place at 8 PM, Team Dynamo v Bulldogs. The teams met twice during the regular season, with Team Dynamo dropping both games. As an aside, the Bulldogs defeated Team Dynamo in last year's final.
