Team Dynamo, for the most part, has had very little turnover through the years. However, given the franchise's storied history and impressive tenure in the RISMEHL, it's inevitable that there have been a fair share of comings and goings. Below, we'll attempt to rank some of Team Dynamo's best signings, and also, begrudgingly remember some of Team Dynamo's biggest misses.
Team Dynamo Best:
Andrew Lisi, G
Lisi came to Team Dynamo at a crucial point in the franchise's trajectory. Long time netminder Mark Senerchia had seemingly run out of bud light, and after a dreadful start to the 2013 season, the writing was on the wall. Senerchia suffered a mid-season injury, and in stepped Lisi, thanks to some diligent work by GM Shane Farrell. Lisi fell right into place in the room, and what's more, his inspired play revitalized Team Dynamo's 2013 season and kept Dynamo as tops in the league for seasons to come. Of note, in the 2019 RIMSEHL championship game, Lisi suffered a nasty groin injury mid way through the game (0 goals against at the time), but stayed between the pipes and finished hard like a true Blue Blood.
Team Dynamo Worst:
Sean Hurley & Friend, D & F
Team Dynamo doesn't call on "fill ins" often, but when they do, they expect the best. Enter Brown Alum and Brown Alum's friend, who were both far from it. There's nothing cool about not trying, but I guess we forgot to tell these two before the game. A lackluster, maybe even downright pathetic, effort by two Division 1 players was only outshined by the fact that they took the beer that they brought to the game home with them when they left (very early, by the way). Team Dynamo really thought they were on to something, but they were wrong.
Team Dynamo Best:
Derek Colucci, F
Colucci was summoned to fill in for Team Dynamo roughly 10 years ago, and immediately embraced the culture. However, due to cap restraints, the free agent suited up for the Bulldogs while on the shelf, a piece of Dynamo history I think we all agree he regrets. It wasn't long, though, before GM Farrell signed Colucci to a long term deal, an agreement that has paid off a hundred fold. Colucci earned Rookie of the Year honors in his first full Team Dynamo season, has continually been a positive contributor on and off the ice, can be found in the lot until the wee hours of the night, despite always saying, "I have to leave early tonight", and even recently set the boys up with some very versatile half zips.
Team Dynamo Worst:
Nick Del Gallo, F
Del Gallo is a formidable offensive talent and a good locker room guy. It's his inconsistency that lands him on the no-no list and also the fact that he defected to the Baboons, a once bitter rival of Team Dynamo. Del Gallo was a part of one of the more memorable locker room exchanges, in which he declared, "I can read, I just don't write too good" in reference to potential college admission to JWU. Del Gallo still shows up in the RIMSEHL here and there, and is a Dynamo friendly, but the inability for the two sides to find a common ground will always be looked upon as a mystery.
Team Dynamo Best:
Jimmy Merola, G
Simply put, Merola is the best free agent signing in Team Dynamo history. He is the quintessential teammate, his compete level is next to none, and his overall presence has seemingly injected new life into Team Dynamo since the Covid season, where they are seeing some of their greatest success as they grow older but the league continues to get younger. Dynamo is dangerous on any given night with Merola between the pipes, and you won't find a better locker room guy in the league.
