Ranking Team Dynamo's Best, and Worst, Free Agent Signings

Team Dynamo, for the most part, has had very little turnover through the years. However, given the franchise's storied history and impressive tenure in the RISMEHL, it's inevitable that there have been a fair share of comings and goings. Below, we'll attempt to rank some of Team Dynamo's best signings, and also, begrudgingly remember some of Team Dynamo's biggest misses.

Team Dynamo Best:

Andrew Lisi, G
Lisi came to Team Dynamo at a crucial point in the franchise's trajectory. Long time netminder Mark Senerchia had seemingly run out of bud light, and after a dreadful start to the 2013 season, the writing was on the wall. Senerchia suffered a mid-season injury, and in stepped Lisi, thanks to some diligent work by GM Shane Farrell. Lisi fell right into place in the room, and what's more, his inspired play revitalized Team Dynamo's 2013 season and kept Dynamo as tops in the league for seasons to come. Of note, in the 2019 RIMSEHL championship game, Lisi suffered a nasty groin injury mid way through the game (0 goals against at the time), but stayed between the pipes and finished hard like a true Blue Blood.

Team Dynamo Worst:

Sean Hurley & Friend, D & F
Team Dynamo doesn't call on "fill ins" often, but when they do, they expect the best. Enter Brown Alum and Brown Alum's friend, who were both far from it. There's nothing cool about not trying, but I guess we forgot to tell these two before the game. A lackluster, maybe even downright pathetic, effort by two Division 1 players was only outshined by the fact that they took the beer that they brought to the game home with them when they left (very early, by the way). Team Dynamo really thought they were on to something, but they were wrong.

Team Dynamo Best:

Derek Colucci, F
Colucci was summoned to fill in for Team Dynamo roughly 10 years ago, and immediately embraced the culture. However, due to cap restraints, the free agent suited up for the Bulldogs while on the shelf, a piece of Dynamo history I think we all agree he regrets. It wasn't long, though, before GM Farrell signed Colucci to a long term deal, an agreement that has paid off a hundred fold. Colucci earned Rookie of the Year honors in his first full Team Dynamo season, has continually been a positive contributor on and off the ice, can be found in the lot until the wee hours of the night, despite always saying, "I have to leave early tonight", and even recently set the boys up with some very versatile half zips.

Team Dynamo Worst:

Nick Del Gallo, F
Del Gallo is a formidable offensive talent and a good locker room guy. It's his inconsistency that lands him on the no-no list and also the fact that he defected to the Baboons, a once bitter rival of Team Dynamo. Del Gallo was a part of one of the more memorable locker room exchanges, in which he declared, "I can read, I just don't write too good" in reference to potential college admission to JWU. Del Gallo still shows up in the RIMSEHL here and there, and is a Dynamo friendly, but the inability for the two sides to find a common ground will always be looked upon as a mystery.

Team Dynamo Best:

Jimmy Merola, G
Simply put, Merola is the best free agent signing in Team Dynamo history. He is the quintessential teammate, his compete level is next to none, and his overall presence has seemingly injected new life into Team Dynamo since the Covid season, where they are seeing some of their greatest success as they grow older but the league continues to get younger. Dynamo is dangerous on any given night with Merola between the pipes, and you won't find a better locker room guy in the league.

Dynamo Win Crowd, but Lose Final

Woonsocket, RI - And just like that the 2022 RIMSEHL season has come to a close. The Bulldogs won the championship game in dramatic fashion, 3 - 2, in overtime.

This game was highly anticipated by Bulldog and Dynamo faithful alike, as the two teams have forged quite a rivalry over the years, perhaps one of the fiercest in RIMSEHL history. While the Bulldogs have had the upper hand of late, one online poll favored Team Dynamo to win the Belisle Cup quite heavily.

The Bulldogs struck first, in just the second shift of the game, on a powerplay strike. Dynamo veteran Matt Czerkowicz answered though, and it seemed as if the teams would be deadlocked at one after one, but the pesky Bulldogs scored to go ahead with just 2 seconds remaining in the period.

More back and forth ensued throughout the second period until the Dynamo got a powerplay tally of their own, an equalizer that would carry the two teams into overtime.

One observer did note an awful lot of involvement by the referees.

In what was a mostly even game throughout, with plentiful chances for both sides, it was the Bulldogs who triumphed a minute into the first overtime on a wrist shot from just inside the blueline.

It is worth noting the stellar play of Dynamo goaltender James Merola, who had yet to face the Bulldogs this season.

Here's to another season in the RIMSEHL with the Boys in Blue.

Dynamo Extinguishes Squids; Back into Finals

Woonsocket, RI - Team Dynamo, in perennial fashion, defeated the Squids in one of the RIMSEHL semi- final contests last night, 4 - 3.

The Squids took an early lead mid way through the first period, however it was Craig Houle who answered quickly, with a nice snapshot from the slot on nifty pass from centerman Matt Czerkowicz. The Squids followed with a seeing eye shot from the point, with the first period ending in the Squids favor, 2 - 1.

Intensity and high pace were in abundance, and it wasn't long before Cody Kasavant leveled the game at two by waiting out Squids goaltender Brian Larence and finishing a blisterer up top. And so, the two teams headed into the third all even, with their respective seasons on the line.

James Guay took the opportunity to give the Boys in Blue the edge by finding the five hole on a line rush, and Derek Colucci also found the back of the net on a nice tip. The Squids answered with one of their own but ultimately the Dynamo held the line and fought off a minute thirty of 5 v 6 play, successfully placing them in their 9th straight RIMSEHL final.

The other semi-final saw the Bulldogs take over Goon Squad and earn their trip to the final.

On Thursday, September 25th, the 2022 Championship will take place at 8 PM, Team Dynamo v Bulldogs. The teams met twice during the regular season, with Team Dynamo dropping both games. As an aside, the Bulldogs defeated Team Dynamo in last year's final.

Player Spotlight

CRAIG HOULE

While fans wait out this week's bye, Dynamo faithful want to take a moment to recognize current Team Dynamo GM, President, and forward, Craig Houle.

Craig hails from the hockey hotbed of Burrillville, Rhode Island, and has a long and quite distinguished hockey resume. A standout and captain at La Salle Academy, Craig was a lock to play at the next level, eventually matriculating to New England College, with current Dynamo stars Corporate Joe Loiselle and Dr. George Sparrow.

A young Houle was a regular on the scoresheet at La Salle Academy

However, it was at Johnson & Wales University where Craig truly left his mark, playing under [at the time] bench boss Erik Noack. In 72 games with the Wildcats, Houle posted a whopping 92 points, or 1.3 points per game. Of course, as a result of Houle's fine efforts, he was selected to first team all league honors in his senior season. What's more impressive, Houle's incredible leadership and tireless work ethic led him back to JWU after graduation, this time as a coach.

Houle continues to pass on his knowledge of the game to this very day, remaining heavily involved in his local community as a coach of Burrillville High School, alongside Team Dynamo founder, Dave Farrell.

Houle's Dynamo responsibilities include hockey operations, recruiting, game day preparations and shift length management.

A consummate team player, full of energy, and always caring for others, Houle's contributions to Team Dynamo are truly invaluable and frankly, without Houle, there would be no Dynamo. Here's to Craig Houle, and his incredible impact on the Northern Rhode Island hockey community.

On a personal note, Craig and his family reside in Pascoag, RI. In his free time, Craig likes to golf and talk about golf.

Dynamo Doozy

Woonsocket, RI - Week nine in the RISMEHL saw first place Team Dynamo take on the Ducks, and while the Dynamo came to play, the same cannot be said for their opponent.

It all started before puck drop when it became known that the Ducks goalie withdrew from the contest for undisclosed reasons, and it snowballed from there. Dynamo got on the board early and often, taking a 5 - 0 lead into the first intermission. By midway through the second period, with the score sitting at 8 - 0, it became clear that none of the Ducks' eight skaters were interested in playing hockey. If their execution was poor, their effort was downright disgraceful. What's more, the Ducks had a respected goalie suit up on short notice and hung the poor netminder completely out to dry. Dynamo converted on multiple breakaways, out of a total of probably 10, and saw about half as many 2 on 0's.

Team Dynamo stalwart James Merola turned in the shutout, with the final buzzer showing a score of 11 - 0. Not much to be gained by the Boys in Blue from last night's game other than a valuable 2 points in the standings.

Things Are Getting Interesting

Woonsocket, RI - We're just past the halfway point in the 2022 Rhode Island Men's Super Elite Hockey League (RIMSEHL) season, and, after another successful All Star Week, the league is really heating up.

For starters, Team Dynamo had the early slot and matched up against the fledgling Royals side, ultimately skating to a 6 - 2 win. It was a slow start for the Boys in Blue, and credit due to a scrappy Royals goalie and a much improved effort as compared to their first meeting. Heading into the third period with the teams tied at one, Team Dynamo was finally able to break through, which appeared to open the flood gates, with Team Dynamo scoring on multiple consecutive shifts.

Of note, star Dynamo goaltender Jimmy Merola was back in net after an off ice injury kept him sidelined for the last two contests. True to from, Merola, while absent from the ice for weeks, was certainly there in spirit, and also literally there, to support his team.

Corporate Joe Loiselle and recently re-signed centerman James Guay were missing from the line up.

In other news, there was another game following Team Dynamo's, however fans and sponsors alike were really focused on the late game, Squids v Bulldogs. In their first meeting, the Bulldogs beat the Squids in a close one, however last night's result turned in the Squids favor. In turn, this locked the Bulldogs in at 12 points, and with Team Dynamo's win, they also have 12 points, with Goon Squad and Squids hot on their heals with 10 points apiece. Needless to say, the parody in the league seems to be as good as it has been in years, and things are shaping up as to provide Northern Rhode Island with some phenomenal hockey as the playoff push begins. Be sure to check out the full league standings now posted.

Tickets can be purchased onsite for $5.

Current Dynamo Rearguard Accepts Coaching Gig with the Corsairs

Woonsocket, RI - Some might wonder, "what is a Corsair?" Well, not Team Dynamo's defensive stalwart Eric Noack (11 year veteran) as he just accepted University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's offer to become their new bench coach.

Week 3: Dynamo Throwback

This week's Dynamo Throwback features former Team Dynamo defenseman Evan Erdmann. Erdmann was a flash in the pan Dynamo sparkplug in the early 2000s. He hails from the hockey hotbed of Indiana, and owns an impressive resume including the Markham Waxers, Toledo Ice Diggers, New England College, and most notably Team Dynamo.

Erdmann put teams on notice early and often (especially Team Dynamo) by showing up hours before game time to perform intense pre-game workouts. He'd always sport the clean and shiny full ITech shield, and wasn't shy to rip it off and chuck it across the ice while challenging an opponent to a tilt.

Here's to Evan and his fine play in a Blue jersey.

DYNAMIC DYNAMO

A strong start has Rhode Island asking, "is Dynamo back?"

Woonsocket, RI - Team Dynamo has posted a strong beginning to the 2014 campaign, sitting at 3 wins 1 loss after just three weeks. In fact, this is Dynamo's strongest start to a season in four years, and has left a state - wide many curious if Dynamo has found the fountain of youth. Long gone were the years of undefeated seasons and running the clock half way through the second period ...

"Yup, we're like a fine wine baby," said Ryan Baynes, the veteran blue liner, who is coming around on  nearly two decades in the RIMSEHL.

Despite dropping their home opener to a largely improved Plante's Auto squad, Dynamo picked up where they left off in the regular season last year rattling off three straight, against league rival Woonsocket Rockets, the easily maligned Baboons, and a desperate Five Guys. The Boys in Blue have yet to face off against last years champion, the 2013 Fan Least Favorite, Bulldogs.

"We've made a number of changes this year, which I think have contributed to our success thus far," says newly anointed player / coach Shane Farrell. "Firstly, we re-signed rookie goaltender Andrew Lisi to a maximum contract. Lisi's been strong for us [at the end of last season] and we'll look to him down the stretch here. Secondly, we've got some new threads thanks to player personnel director Craig Houle. We tried out the new Thirds against the Baboons, and just like that we're undefeated in our Greys."

Dave Farrell, who has decided to hang up his dry erase board and marker and focus more on faceoffs, in typical fashion, doesn't necessarily agree with the Northern Rhode Island buzz surrounding Dynamo. "It's early in the season. Everyone just needs to relax. We haven't done anything yet. We're not 'back.' And the Greys ... Well, they don't pop as much as the Blues."

Team Dynamo takes to the ice again on Wednesday evening, to complete a home and home with Five Guys, a team that they just beat 12-4. "We don't expect the same thing at all. I can't believe you'd ask that type of question," defenseman Erik Noack snapped in the post game press conference last week.

Ice Chips

Nearing the half way point, Team Dynamo will be looking to pick up their fourth win of the season on five contests. Team Dynamo has played from behind in all four games to date. Defenseman Erik Noack notched his first tally of the season in Dynamo's fourth game, setting a personal record for fastest goal to start a season. Doctor Sparrow also tallied one last week, largely due to a new stick he purchased at a majorly discounted price of $180.

Dynamo Down

Team Dynamo Bows Out in Championship

Mount Saint Charles, RI - Team Dynamo was voted "Most Improved" in a recent coach's poll, but unfortunately this honored achievement was not enough to propel The Big Blue to back to back Belisle Cups.

The RIMSEHL championship game started off as a defensive chess match, much to the chagrin of The Bulldogs, who took down Team Dynamo by scores of 7 - 1 and 12 - 7 in regular season play. Mid - way through the first, though, they were able to capitalize on a defensive breakdown to take a 1 - 0 lead. It's true that all horrible things come in bunches, and The Bulldogs scored their second on the following shift. No sooner did the ever - persistent Team Dynamo cut their deficit in half, on a beautiful spin - o - rama, no look pass by coach and spiritual leader Dave Farrell, for an easy net front tap in.

The second period started similarly to the first, and once again The Bulldogs netted a few quick ones nearly simultaneously, to take a 5 - 1 lead. The score held through the second buzzer.

Rhode Island Men's League Hockey be damned if Team Dynamo was going to fold their hand, and their gutsy play finally paid off during special teams play, with Maturi forcing his way to the net from the corner and bearing down to chip away at The Bulldogs' lead.  The very next shift saw the Dynamo resurgence strengthen, so with 8 minutes remaining in regulation, Team Dynamo trailed by a score of 5 - 3. As is typical in all high pressure situations, the egomaniac referees took over, making a questionable, at best, roughing call on rugged blue liner Ryan Baynes. A bonafide snipe by The Bulldogs was the final nail in the coffin for Team Dynamo, and with an empty netter to boot, The Blue Army saw their 2013 RIMSEHL season come to an end, by a final score of 7 - 3.

It wasn't that long ago that many speculated whether or not Team Dynamo was even going to qualify for the post season. Sluggish from the start of the season through the all-star break, Dynamo sat at 1 - 3 - 1, only to spin off 4 wins in their final 5 games. Then, in decisive fashion, the underdog #3 seed Team Dynamo took down #2 seed Baboons before falling in the championship game.

Aptly deemed "America's Team," Team Dynamo didn't just finish as runners up in the RIMSEHL. They finished this year's campaign as a cohesive unit with skill, grit and pride, who gave excitement and hope to young and old hockey players and fans alike, doing so with class in a day and age where its an ever difficult task to find role models who do it "the right way." A determined bunch, Team Dynamo will surely be back in 2014 to continue their unheralded legacy.

Let the Games Begin

Team Dynamo Prepares for Title Defense

Mount Saint Charles, RI - Team Dynamo dropped it's final game of the regular season to The Baboons to finish at 5-4-1. Most speculated that this loss would drop The Blue into the fourth and final spot and line them up to face the front runner Bulldogs in the semi-finals; however, with Woonsocket dropping it's final two games in regulation, Dynamo eked into the third position and will face off for the third time this season against the Baboons. The two teams have split the season series.

The puck drops Wednesday evening, as Dynamo embarks to vie for their second championship in the RIMSEHL in two years. Coach Dave Farrell commented, "it's been a while since we've won back to back championships, but we know what we need to do."

Added team liaison Craig Houle, "we're excited...very excited. We're up against The Baboons who just beat us. They had a lot to chirp about after that game. Bring it on."

Tensions will certainly be high, as clearly there's quite a bit of pride at stake. Media resources were able to gain access for a short time into the Blue Army camp to catch a glimpse of how they were preparing. In what was deemed "Dynamo Day," players and personnel alike held a get together this past Saturday in order to strategize. It was the first inaugural event of it's kind in Team Dynamo's storied franchise history. Shane Farrell explained, "Each season is different. As such, we as Dynamo need to adapt to our settings like chameleons. We'll always do what it takes, and in this case, we decided Dynamo Day was what was required of us."

At 4-1 in their last five games, and Dynamo Day behind them, peaking forward Joey Loiselle said it best..."we can't wait."

Five, Three and One - Dynamo Ain't Done!

Team Dynamo Clinches Playoff Spot

Woonsocket, RI - Hot Damn! The roller coaster ride that is the 2013 RIMSEHL season continues...

With just one week remaining in the regular season, the playoff bracket is just about set. Fans all over Northern Rhode Island are looking at potential match ups as follows:

#1 Bulldogs v #4 Baboons

#2 Team Dynamo v #3 Woonsocket

Team Dynamo took to the ice last week in two crucial match ups and came out on top in both, putting them at 4 - 0 in their last 4. Most recently, Team Dynamo defeated Plante's for the first time this season in a defensive chess match, 5 - 3.

Here are the three stars of the game, brought to you by sponsors AT&T and Taco Bell:

#3 Erik Noack (D)

Traditionally, Erik is known as your prototypical defensive defenseman. However, of late, he's shown Orr like flashes to boost the Blue Army offense. While it hasn't shown on the scoresheet per-say, he's been providing intangibles such as jumping up in the rush and creeping in from the offensive blue for opportunities. Most notably, in the third period, Erik took control of the puck on the blue, toe - dragged the winger (sort of) and let loose an absolute howitzer from the hash marks; unfortunately, the tender turned it aside with ease.

#2 George "The Doctor" Sparrow (F)

The Doc has integrated into the potent Dynamo offense very well after his hiatus. His eye popping toe drags and re-vamped face-off tactics have helped him contribute immensely to catapulting Team Dynamo into a real contender. George has chipped in with more than the diminutive 12 pack; with a one goal lead late in the third, the Doctor of Love crafted a puck towards the net, lighting the lamp, and thus sealing Dynamo's fate by concreting their position in the post season.

#1 Joey Loiselle (F)

"Mr. Loiselle is the hottest player in the league right now," one Single A scout in attendance  on Thursday night is quoted as saying. This comes as old news to the Boys in Blue, as Joey has truly come into his own this season. Off the ice, Joe has taken on some unofficial managerial responsibilities and is quickly being looked at by Team Owners as the answer of the future. On the ice, he's tenacious, skilled and relentless. For example, aside from the 2 goals Joey chipped in against Plante's, he also recorded 12  steals and 1 blocked shot. His contributions can easily be measured in goals and assists, but what's more, Coach Dave Farrell adds, "Joey is everything that Team Dynamo embodies." That alone should speak for itself.

Back in the Dynamo Groove

Woonsocket, RI - Huge news shocked the RIMSEHL on Wednesday afternoon just before Team Dynamo took the ice for their sixth and post season defining match up. Long time Team Dynamo netminder and RIMSEHL veteran Mark Senerchia submitted his resignation to team liaison Shane Farrell. There is no further comment from league or team officials regarding the details surrounding Senerchia's retirement, but it is anticipated that his number will be retired once the dust from the 2013 season settles.

Fresh off the surprising news, Team Dynamo mustered up the strength to take on a formidable opponent in the Baboons, in what many believed to be the end of the line for the Blues should they surrender the W. Alas, Blue Army faithful should've slept well that stormy Wednesday night, for Team Dynamo, in dramatic fashion, closed out a nail biter, 7 - 5.

In what was perhaps a turning point for Team Dynamo the night before, the boys took to the ice on Thursday evening, in this season's rematch against the Woonsocket Womba...er Rockets. With new confidence and a fresh lease on life, the Blues were not to be pushed around again, dominating from the drop of the puck. The final buzzer left the Dynamos with 10 and the Rockets with 4.

And, just like that, as fast as Team Dynamo dropped to the cellar of the RIMSEHL, they've risen like a phoenix from the ashes of it's predecessor, right into playoff contention. Dynamo sports an uncomfortable grip on the 4th spot of the regular season RIMSEHL ladder, with three games remaining.

Team Dynamo faces off against the bottom feeder Five Guys squad this coming Wednesday, and hits the ice again on Thursday for a sure-to-be tight one against long time league rival Plante's Auto.

A late season winning streak could be on the horizon for Team Dynamo

Coach's Corner: Player Spotlight

DAN MATURI

Boston, MA - Rome was built one brick at a time, each piece no more important than the next. And so it's said Team Dynamo was constructed in the same fashion. Dan Maturi, a Rhode Island native, North Kingstown to be exact, joined the franchise just after the turn of the century, and currently sports 4 league championship rings as a result of his service to the Blue Army.

Ironically enough, Maturi cut his teeth on the very rink that Team Dynamo plays out of today, of course before the squad was conceptualized. A young Dan attended Mount Saint Charles and starred for the famous Mounties, who dominated Rhode Island high school hockey for decades.  It was there that Dan learned the value of winning at any cost, and went on to apply that very same life lesson as his hockey career began.

Dan Maturi stood out for the Mounties in the early years of his sensational hockey career

Highly touted and recruited out of Woonsocket, Maturi ventured his hand in the New England Prep School League at Tabor Academy. As a standout athlete and honor roll student there, it came as no surprise that colleges and universities all over the northeast expressed interest in his skill sets. Dan then matriculated to Trinity College in Hartford, CT in 2004, only to be named team captain in his senior season and leading the Bantams to a NESCAC league championship and NCAA DIII berth.

Hockey experts acknowledge Maturi's success early on but feel that his game
became truly refined after joining Team Dynamo

Team Dynamo's acquisition of rookie Dan Maturi came at a time when the team was experiencing success but looking for longterm stability and youthful talent. Team president Dave Farrell reflects on signing Maturi about a decade ago now. "Dan was eager, and we liked that. We needed some young guys to plug into the equation and Dan was a solid addition to contribute to the style of play and pace that we wanted to represent. What's more, he was multi-dimensional; that is, he can contribute on and off the ice."

As the story's told, Dan Maturi didn't simply follow success; it followed him. Amidst a difficult and trying 2013 campaign, Team Dynamo will look for a little more of that "Maturi Magic" down the stretch, something Dan has been keen to every place he's played.

On a personal side, Dan resides in the North End of Boston with his wife, Fernanda.

Rock Bottom

Team Dynamo Out of Answers

Mount Saint Charles, RI - Team Dynamo has officially bottomed out. Mid - way through the 2013 campaign, the defending champions sit in last place at a measly 1 - 3 - 1.

Last Thursday night's game was a pivotal one for The Blues, where they hoped to gain some traction in the standings while earning redemption against the much maligned Bulldogs. Going down by a goal early was far from the way Dynamo hoped to start, but they were able to equalize easily, and followed up with leads of 2 - 1 and 3 - 2. The first period, though, ended all sides equal at 3.

Much of the same followed as the teams went back and forth through the first half of the second. Untimely penalties and suspect refereeing hindered Dynamo, but bright rays of their once great potential shone through. After scoring their sixth to take a 6 - 5 lead, their world came unraveled and Dynamo found themselves on the losing side of a 9 - 6 score as the buzzer signaled the end of two.

There was no end in sight for Team Dynamo as they, to put it quite nicely, were like watching molasses flow up a rocky cliff. A mid period tilt pumped some juice into the Blues and they capitalized on the momentum, making it 9 - 7 on a nice tic - tac - toe goal with eight minutes to go. However, the Bulldogs responded by scoring three consecutive of their own, putting Team Dynamo into all too familiar territory: the loss column. The loss was their third of season and puts them squarely in last place of six teams, far from post - season play.

Multiple Dynamo players refused comment after the game, but more than a couple had only one word for the press, "disgraceful." After a decade of prominence in the stacked RIMSEHL, Team Dynamo has crashed harder than the NYSE in 2008, with no hope for reform in sight. The Blues faceoff this Wednesday against the not-yet-seen-this-season Baboons squad, and follow up Thursday evening against Woonsocket.

Godspeed to Team Dynamo; they're going to need a bushel of horseshoes up their tuckus to redeem 2013.

Team Dynamo can't perform any worse than they are now

E. Noack: Every time I put on a Team Dynamo jersey.

Mensleaguer: Erik, you seem agitated...

E. Noack: How would you feel if your team was underperforming?

Mensleaguer: Understood. Well, with that in mind, what do you think you have to do turn things around this year?

E. Noack: We have a huge game on Thursday.

Mensleaguer: Should be a good one. The last time Team Dynamo met the outcome was lopsided...

E. Noack: Thanks. That'll be all for today.

Team Dynamo Gains First Win; Curley Shines

Woonsocket, RI - Defending RIMSEHL Champion Team Dynamo has finally earned its first win approaching mid season of the 2013 campaign. While fans and players alike have been disappointed thus far, Team Dynamo pulled together a decisive and comprehensive win against the rookie squad Five Guys on Thursday evening.

Late scratches and last minute call ins proved crucial for Team Dynamo as they jumped out to an early first period lead, only to pull away in the middle period without looking back. In Team Dynamo's first win in the somewhat young season, weathered defenseman John Curley turned in a solid scorecard, recording his first goal of season and completing a more than impressive +5 rating. Not to be overshadowed by returning stud defenseman Erik Noack, Curley stepped up his game and scored a decisive ninth goal on a beautiful rebound put-away, only to celebrate in dramatic fashion, fanning the ice and raising his glove hand to the heavens.

Curley's reemergence with Team Dynamo could prove divisive

Goaltender Mark Senerchia displayed his lowest goal total of the season at 6 as Team Dynamo dominated a young but skilled squad by a total of 11 - 6. Also starring was ever-consistent Joey Loiselle, who has proven night in and night out that he can compete at the highest of levels. Shane and Dave Farrell were also strong, as is typical, in the evermore crucial victory. The big W takes the last place Team Dynamo to, well, tied for last place.

With only the top four squads making the playoffs, Team Dyanmo has made a small yet powerful stride towards redemption. Young buck and U-Mass Boston star Derek Colucci was also consistent throughout the game.

Meanwhile, the Woonsocket Wombats were dethroned by The Bulldogs, which catapulted them into first place. Team Dynamo faces off against said Bulldogs, who earlier in the season eeked out a win against the Blues by the slim margin of 7 - 1. The puck drops at 7:10 PM sharp on Thursday, August 1st and could possibly be a pre post season preview, let alone a season defining match up.

Notable Team Dynamo happenings include Dan Maturi's late scratch regarding an undisclosed but serious mid-body injury. Furthermore, utility man John Halverson was late to a team meal on Thursday and was subsequently benched for the first period. There is no further comment on his Team Dynamo status. The official line up for the blockbuster match up this Thursday has yet to be released but is surely much anticipated as the struggling Dynamo search for consistency in 2013.

Team Dynamo Continues To Slide

Management Mulls Move to Pawtucket

Woonsocket, RI - Defending RIMSEHL Champions Team Dynamo has begun their 2013 season in disappointing fashion, falling to 0 - 2 - 1 just three games into the season.

Team Dynamo was handed a degrading loss against the league - least favorite The Bulldogs, 7 -1, to begin Week 2. Reinvigorated and ready to work, Dynamo jumped to an early lead the following night against Plante's Auto, only to squander that lead and yet another. At the end of the horrible evening, Dynamo was only able to skate off the ice with an 8 - 8 draw.

Perhaps the lone highlight of Week 2 came in the return of defensive stalwart and West Warwick hero Ryan Baynes, who was solid on the blue line.

The reeling Dynamo organization is left befuddled, and the ever - loyal Dynamo fans grew restless after the disappointing result on last Thursday evening. The culmination of which frustration coming when the majority headed for the gates prior to the final buzzer.

"Yeah it's never a good sign when our hardcores up and leave before the game ends," Maturi commented after the game. "We've let them down, and we've let ourselves down."

Its not only the fans and players that are feeling the ill effects of the terrible start to the season, as there are strong rumors within the tight-knit Rhode Island hockey community that Dynamo owners / silent partners are shopping the team around. The potential interest in a take - over lies primarily with a small start up technology company based in Pawtucket. While there has been no official league statement regarding this crushing news, it is assumed that the would be owners would "clean house" so to speak, even retiring the well-known Blue and White colors of the once great Dynamo.

As the RIMSEHL approaches the mid - season grind, it is left solely to the players to make necessary changes. Defenseman Erik Noack recognizes, "every game is a playoff game now." And so it goes in the competitive world of Northern Rhode Island Men's League Hockey while the question remains, will Team Dynamo turn the ship around?

Will Team Dynamo find the light?

Team Dynamo Tied For Last; Sits at 0 - 1

Mount Saint Charles, RI - Team Dynamo took to the ice for the first time in the 2013 RIMSEHL season on Thursday evening. Prior to the puck drop, there was a ceremonial banner raising commemorating the 2012 Championship and rings were doled out. This was the peak of the night for Team Dynamo, though, as they fell to a vastly revamped Woonsocket Rockets team in the season opener, 9-6.

Dynamo jumped out to an early lead when Shane Farrell picked an unsuspecting Rockets defenseman's pocket and tucked it past the netminder in tight. The ebb and flow of intensity followed between the two rivals, who have met in the championship game in each of the last three seasons. Mid way through the second period, and the game knotted at 4 apiece, Halverson was whistled for a controversial tripping penalty. In truly Spartan fashion, Maturi, S. Farrell, Curley and Loiselle masterfully killed off the entire one minute penalty. Dynamo then pursued, and the Rockets withdrew; the Rockets pursued, and Dynamo withdrew, and so they danced.

It wasn't long, however, until Woonsocket was able to press a little harder and a little tighter, rattling off 4 unanswered goals. Team Dynamo showed tremendous perseverance down the stretch, answering with 2 goals of their own within the final two minutes of regulation. Senerchia found his way to the bench, and Dynamo gasped for it's last breath of air but came up short, surrendering the final nail in the coffin by way of an empty netter.

It wasn't your typical chippy match up between the two perennial powerhouses, mostly due to the Rockets' perceived focus on skill with this year's roster rather than grit, but fans were treated to a down to the wire nail-biter nonetheless. Team Dynamo admittedly left something to desire in their first game as defending champions, although there was no official comment from the team after the game.

Goal scorers included Shane Farrell, Dave Farrell, John Halverson, Dan Maturi, Craig Houle, and Yuszczak, Curley and Loiselle recorded solid games on the blue line.

Team Dynamo returns to action with back to back Wednesday and Thursday night match ups this coming week. The official roster has not yet been released by team personnel, but it is expected that spark plug defenseman Erik Noack will return to action after being cleared by the training staff on Friday.
